Account book, 1845-1853.

This account book contains two accounts. The first account refers to Bigelow's work as a contractor in the construction of a home for Ira Moore Barton (1796-1867) at Adams Square in Worcester for the period 1845 to 1847. The second, much briefer, account is with "Dr. Tower and Raymond" for unspecified building construction and covers the period 4 May 1848 to 8 January 1853.

Ira Moore Barton (1796-1867) graduated from Brown in 1819 and Harvard Law School in 1822. In 1823, he married Maria Waters Bullard (1800-1883), the daughter of Artemas and Lucy White Bullard. Barton studied law with Sumner Barstow in Oxford and later with Levi Lincoln in Worcester. He served as a state representative and senator from Oxford in the period 1830 to 1834, before moving to Worcester in 1834.
